Levels:
Mario - lv. 3
Mallow - lv. 4
Geno - lv. 6
Browser - lv. 8
As we have acquired the Lucky Jewel, these are going to be these characters' final levels.
This is the first battle where no experience is gained, and when the jewel breaks, it will be functionally replaced by the Lucky Hammer. This is also the first battle where Bowser is in the party. Heavily outstatting the starting trio, Bowser is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield - powerful, healthy and durable enough to take just 1 dmg from the bosses in the video when an attack does hit him. He is slow as molasses, to give him just one weakness to deal with, though having no attack skills at lv. 8 is arguably a bigger problem... But then again, not many can boast having more than that at base level.
The Lucky Jewel now has to be activated at the start of every battle to take effect. When the battle comes to an end, we have a 1/6 chance to reduce the experience gained to 0 over the other options. That's a lot of resets on average, but what else can you do in the name of challenge runs? Haha.
For the first time, we face two very competent bosses at once. I start off by using my items right away, though I still need to test whether Party Energizers are even needed any more when Mario, Geno and Bowser have a triple move that 'boosts' the party. What Shooting Star Shot does is increase our attack by 50% the same way Geno Boost (inaccessible on this low level run) would, though supposedly it eventually wears off - experience will shed light as to whether this is accurate, and what the optimal buffing strategy is.
Knife Guy is weak to Geno Beam and therefore it makes most sense to take him out first. If both bosses are alive for long enough, they will combine into one, though you can still target individual ones. As we kill Knife Guy quickly enough, this never actually happens. Geno Beam isn't as effective against Grate Guy, so normal attacks will suffice.
After the battle, we have a one-time opportunity to get a wild number of flowers to increase out FP. I kinda blew it on my first attempt, after which it auto-saved. Currently wondering if redoing the battle to get 16+ or however many flowers it's possible to syphon out of the Booster Hill minigame is worthwhile in the long run, as we don't have many expensive specials available to us in this run, and regular attacks and items dominate much of the action on the battlefield. Hmm...
