I use Marth to go through All-Star Mode, and he does work well in All-Star Mode, but not as well as many other characters, while you do deal more damage to opponents than usual, this does pair well if you can land the tip of Marth's blade at the opponent, because one forward smash with the tip can make a difference, and his Shield Breaker is another good move for dealing damage. You do take less damage and knockback from your opponent's moves, but you do have to watch out for stage hazards.
As for Marth's Alt. Trophies, the 3DS version uses his yellow alternate costume, that is his 7th alternate costume, which could be a reference to Roy's yellow costume in Melee, and his Alt. Trophy in the Wii U version uses his white costume, that is his 5th alternate costume.
I will go over All-Star Mode and which characters you fight against.
Round 1 (2015-2007): Corrin, Greninja, Lucina, Robin, Dark Pit, Shulk, Bayonetta, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina & Luma
Round 2 (2006-2001): Lucario, Lucas, Ike, Zero Suit Samus, Toon Link, Bowser Jr., Roy, Olimar, Villager
Round 3 (1998-1994): Ganondorf, Sheik, Cloud, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Diddy Kong, Ness
Round 4 (1993-1991): Meta Knight, Falco, Fox, Wario, King Dedede, Kirby, Sonic
Round 5 (1990-1986): Captain Falcon, Yoshi, Dr. Mario, Marth, Mega Man, Ryu, Palutena, Pit
Round 6 (1986-1984): Samus, Zelda, Link, Bowser, Peach, R.O.B., Duck Hunt Duo
Round 7 (1984-1980): Little Mac, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Mario, Pac-Man, Mr. Game & Watch

For being a character that originated from the first ever Fire Emblem game, back when it was only in Japan, no Fire Emblem stages appear when fighting Marth and other characters that debuted in 1990-1986, there are only two Fire Emblem stages in the Wii U version, those being Coliseum, which appears when fighting opponents in 2015-2007, and Castle Siege, that appears for characters in 2006-2001, and in the 3DS version, there is only one Fire Emblem stage, that is Arena Ferox, which is a stage from Fire Emblem Awakening. For stages that appear when fighting Marth and other characters that first appeared in 1990-1986, in the 3DS version, the stages Yoshi's Island, Mute City, Reset Bomb Forest, Wily Castle, and Suzaku Castle are the stages, while in the Wii U version, the stages Woolly World, Yoshi's Island from Melee, Port Town Aero Dive, Wily Castle, and Suzaku Castle are the ones that appear.
Marth's Final Smash Trophy does not display any other characters than Marth, but I do like the reference to the health bar that shows dropping to zero from the Fire Emblem series when the Final Smash connects, as this is one of many that can KO opponents in one hit.
