I use one of the strangest newcomer additions to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U, and one of the classic characters for that game, and it is Duck Hunt Duo, well that's the name of the character in the European version, outside of Europe, the character is just called Duck Hunt. Due to how infamous the Duck Hunt Dog was in the NES Duck Hunt game, they got to be playable as the classic representation in Smash Bros., much like with Ice Climbers in Melee, and R.O.B. in Brawl, I don't know if Pit counts, since at the time of Brawl's release, which was before Kid Icarus: Uprising, Pit's last appearance was in an NES game.
Duck Hunt Duo is an unlockable character, to unlock them, starting with the 3DS version, you have to complete Classic Mode with 8 different characters or play 110 Vs. Matches, and you fight Duck Hunt Duo on Battlefield, because there was an update to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS which added the Duck Hunt stage into the game, but for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you have to KO one opponent in Cruel Smash, which is also how you unlock the Duck Hunt stage, or play 100 Vs. Matches.
Going over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight characters that use their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters that use their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and at the end, you fight Master Hand, or if you are playing on Intensity 3.0 or higher, you fight Crazy Hand as well, and on Intensity 5.1 or higher, you fight Master Core, the starting form is based on the Intensity played.
While unusual of a character Duck Hunt Duo is, not one of my favourite characters to play as, and now that I am back to playing this game for the first time since 3 and a half years, because prior to starting the Classic Mode videos, I have not played Super Smash Bros. for 3DS or Wii U ever since the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For custom moves, which I am going over in the description as this is the only game in the Smash Bros. series to have custom moves, Duck Hunt Duo's neutral special is Trick Shot, after each kick to the explosive can, it boosts the power of that move, the first custom variant is High-Explosive Shot, where the can is kicked one, and pressing the special button again causes the can to explode, and the other custom variant is Zigzag Shot, the can moves back and forth when shot, and when the can explodes, any opponent caught in it are launched upward, the can explodes quicker and the explosion deals less damage. Next is Clay Shooting, Duck Hunt Duo's side special, the first variant is Rising Clay, where the clay pigeon is raised into the air, and it deals more damage the further it travels, but it cannot be shot, the other custom move is Clay Break, where the clay pigeon can be shot up to three times, the shots deal more damage. Next is Duck Jump, or Duck Jump Duo in Europe, the first custom variant for that move is Duck Jump Snag, while the duck is flying, the dog bites any nearby fighters, but they cannot fly for long, and the other custom move is Super Duck Jump, where the duck flaps its wings, and the pair flies straight up into the air, and a whirlwind is created which pushes opponents away. Duck Hunt Duo's down special is Wild Gunman, there are five different gunmen, and each of them have a different effect in how much damage they deal, the percentage their attacks can KO, the move did get buffed in Ultimate. The first custom variant is Quick Draw Aces, the gunmen fire more quickly, but their shots don't travel as far, the gunmen can be taken down in one attack. The other variant is Mega Gunman, the gunmen summoned are larger, and they act as a shield, as they have 40 HP, their shots deal less damage and they only fire after a short amount of time.
Another thing about Duck Hunt Duo is their placement on the roster, in the 3DS version, they are placed between Greninja and R.O.B., while in the Wii U version, they are placed between Robin and Kirby.
