In the world of Savage Dragon, Mighty Man stands tall as one of the greatest heroes... depending on who's in the driver's seat.

Original Text: Let's shift gears back to a more obvious #SupermanAnalogue, and by that I mean a Shazam homage. Today we're talking about Mighty Man from the Savage Dragon books.
Mighty Man began as a loving homage to Captain Marvel by @ErikJLarsen. The Mighty Man form is your classic caped invulnerable super strong dude, but it's just a vessel for...someone. For much if the series, it's the friendly nurse, Ann Stevens.
But a stated goal of the character was to have the strangest choice of person possible wield the ability to transform into the Mighty Man entity. As a result, we've had amputees, super villains, and babies transform into the character.
As a concept, it's allowed for both fascinating twists on the classic Shazam/Captain Marvel dynamic as well as loving tributes.
Mighty Man has appeared in Savage Dragon, as well as the spin off team book, Freak Force. He/she/it has appeared in Alan Moore's Supreme run and in the Big Bang books. Basically, if you needed a Captain Marvel type character, Mighty Man could fit the story.
As a big fan of the #Shazam archetype, I am so happy whenever I see Mighty Man pop up in a book. The look of the character is smooth with just the right amount of ornate flair. I love the stripe body suit and the gold trim on the cape. A great concept with many solid iterations.
Sometimes you have a Captain Marvel type who transforms between forms, sometimes you have separate entities like Mar-Vell and Rick Jones, but sometimes you need a mindless construct to make up one half of the pair and Mighty Man does that beautifully.

P.S. I realized after the video was posted that there was a cool detail that I forgot to mention (but is alluded to in one of the pictures). The Mighty Man form swaps place with the human host, storing the unused body in a pocket dimension, but the mind is still being projected from the host human body. Unlike with someone like Miracle Man, the body is protected but not nourished in this dimension. So, while the host is safe and not suffocating, they don't eat or sleep and that has an impact on the capabilities of Might Man. If the human host stays in the Mighty Man form, they will tire and starve. This is an interesting weakness that prevents the host from staying in the reasonably invincible Mighty Man form and thus opens them up to attacks. I think it's an incredibly dope character detail and I can't believe I forgot to mention it in the original thread, then failed to add it when editing the video, and then realized a week later. In my defense, I was getting married this weekend. - Case
