For past #SuperOldGameSaturday streams, the topic of role playing games has come up more than once, so with the system this show has come up with to handle longer games, I felt it was time to do the first RPG for this channel and there's no other one I'd rather start with than Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This 1996 Super Nintendo game, published by Nintendo and developed by Square, may be the best game on this system and because of that and its 25th anniversary this month (and to back up that perhaps controversial opinion of mine), we're going to give it a complete playthrough to show off everything about it that I can, let the world know why this game is so great and convince you to play it if it's somehow passed you by. So yes, this will be in parts and, as is the case with any longer game that we play, we'll come back to this every month until we finish it and for part 1, we had a great time discussing elements of this game, other Mario RPGs that came after this, the wonderful music by Yoko Shimomura, what was going on with Square and Nintendo at the time and even pondering some intriguing chat theories about Wario's Woods and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, given the Mario milieu of this one.
