One shot, one kill, or at least that's how the saying goes. In Survive Crisis, you're placed in the roll of the deadly sniper, seeking out and taking down all sorts of enemies.

At first glance, the premise seems great. You're in control of a sniper, and you have to take out the different targets on a level before moving on. It is indeed fun, but it could do with a bit more.

The graphics are pretty good. They're detailed, drawn well, and all mesh together. The graphics here are all drawn nice and vectory, giving it a crisp and professional look. With the exception of your rifle, everything is done in this style allowing the game to present a solid and aesthetically pleasing front. You don't get any animations though, so that's a bit of a downside.

The music is pretty catchy, but it can get repetitive after a few levels. Still, it serves its purpose well enough, and does the job of putting you into the mood for the fast-paced shooting you'll need to do. As for sound effects, the only ones you get here are the gunshot and the reloading of your weapon. Sadly, you won't hear anything else like enemy troops moving (they don't move), targets slumping to the ground (they won't), or bullets ricocheting off hard surfaces (can't be done.

The game is easy enough to control, you move your crosshairs around with the mouse and shoot with the left mouse button, couldn't be simpler. You can, however, zoom in and out. This is needed at times, because while you can only target and shoot enemy soldiers while looking through youur scope, it can be a bit difficult to scout the entire area with only such a small viewing port open to you.

While the rest of the game presents itself well enough, sadly the game does fall a bit short of actually providing the sniper experience. Your targets are all stationary, so you won't be leading any shots. Your bullets also act like laser beams, always going straight towards the center of your scope while putting gravity and physics on hold like longer than tech support will. You also have unlimited ammo, so you can miss as often as you want with no real consequence. Enemies won't suddenly spring up at the sound of gunfire. Instead, they'll continue standing around in plain sight waiting for hot lead to come screaming through the air towards them. Because of this, the game sadly plays more like a spot-the-difference searching game than a shooter. Still, it does provide decent ambiance and excitement by limiting the amount of time you've got to hunt down all of the targets. If you run out of time, you lose the level and have to start all over again.

All in all, Survive Crisis might not be much of a shooter, but it's still a solid enough game to warrant a shot.
