Now we come to the final set of matches of the evening. There really were a lot of nice ones to go around, and I've brought all the best ones to bear, since I thought that they were pretty fun to watch and maybe even a little instructional, if you're down to our level and would find these sorts of exchanges to be worth noting.

But you're watching! That's what counts. We had fun playing them...hopefully you didn't find them to be an utter waste of time, or you wouldn't be here on the third set of matches out of three. Can't argue your way out of that one, can you?

Match #1 -- Gesellschaft (Clear Skies)
Joe the Condor and Ippatsuman (SHROUD)
vs.
Batsu and Polimar (MS.MUTOU)

Ippatsuman...I really don't understand him, I guess. He's a superhero whose trademarks are a baseball (the Rainball) and a giant robot, and he intervenes on behalf of the Time Lease corporation...the largest business on Earth, to defend it from the rival Skull Lease. What these companies do for their living is just as vague as the title character himself.

Batsu Ichimonji is the main character from Rival Schools...where several schools find themselves fighting each other under suspicion of various kidnappings and assaults. For some reason, it's been the work of an elite private school, so more heads need a-crackin' and Batsu's your man...I guess.

Batsu fights and feels a lot like Ryu...y'know, notable special attacks being a fireball and an uppercut...is this what they refer to as a "shotoclone"?

In a completely different note, Batsu shares a voice actor with the Japanese version of Ikkaku Madarame...which might not be so surprising to anybody who's ever heard him... ... ...but I want you to think back to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and now imagine Adult Link has just jumped off a tall cliff. Sound familiar? Now you know it, you can't un-know it.

As for Ippatsuman...well...he's got a "fireball" (baseball...Rainball...) and a flying uppercut of his own. Then again, I'd say one of the most standout features of Ippatsuman's Rainball besides its utterly magical properties would be the fact that he always takes either a backstep or a step towards his enemy while throwing it, making it very useful as a maneuver to adjust your spacing.

I got a little showy at the end and tried to pull off a United by Fate, but apparently Ippatsuman had other plans.

Match #2 -- Les Vagas
Ryu and Yatterman-1 (SHROUD)
vs.
Tekkaman Blade and Casshern (MS.MUTOU)

Tekkaman Blade is great when you're on a roll, but when you're getting beaten to the punch a little too often, your health meter will definitely show the wear.

Then again, when you're taking a beating, it's always important to remember to keep a cool head and switch out while you've got a lot of red health. Red health will slowly regenerate for characters who aren't in battle, but that red health will also vanish immediately once you perform a tag, except for any of three special tag maneuvers...but I'll talk about those another time.

---

Match #3 -- Burning Wasteland
Chun-Li and Morrigan (SHROUD)
vs.
Ippatsuman and Zero (MS.MUTOU)

Morrigan Aensland is a succubus from the Darkstalkers series of fighting games and an adopted member of the Aensland family...I don't know what that means exactly, but you've seen their castle! I'm told that somehow succubi in the Aensland family differ somewhat from those of actual myth, but it leaves them able to feed on the essences of dreams rather than actually draining the life force from someone...

This by no means qualifies Morrigan as "good"...but she's not a vampire and she's not necessarily evil...more like...Chaotic *Bored* all the time. Oh, and all the unexplained things like the wings on her head, rocket boosters, missile launchers...bats. She can make stuff out of bats...somehow.
