9James Cameron had completely opted out of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines as he seems to have lost interest in the Terminator universe and didn’t want to work with the people who owned the rights. Instead he began focusing on other projects like Titanic and Avatar.
Edward Furlong dropped out because of substance abuse problems and Linda Hamilton reportedly dropped out because she didn’t like the first version of the script
At 170 million it was the most expensive film greenlit and eventually cost 187 million to make. To recoup the expenses extensive product placement deals were made with the likes of Pepsi and Toyota. The film eventually made $433 million.
