0Technically, Splatoon's first instalment should have been played here, but in the absence of the appropriate system I settled with the latest in the series. I was under the impression that it was predominantly multiplayer deathmatches for kids, and I don't really enjoy that kind of game and much prefer a single player campaign - so how fortunate it is that there are around 70 inventive stages. The game is centred around two warring factions, Inklings and Octolings. They mainly fight by shooting their ink at each other, and moving sround stages at speed by swimming through the ink. There are several different weapons ranging from crossbows to paint brushes and cannons, and levels range from rail shooting, target practice, difficult jump sections and obstacles - Your Inkling is tasked with rescuing Craig Cuttlefish, who has seemingly been kidnapped by the Octolings and you must get through different sites, gradually clearing fuzzy ooze and levelling up. What Splatoon 3 does best though, is remind you that not every game has to be gritty to be great - It's colourful, addictive, original and FUN.
