"The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes" is an action game released for the Super Famicom in 1995, featuring the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, released in Japan. Although the game shares its name with the 1993 limited series "The Lethal Foes of Spider-Man," the plot deviates from the comic, focusing instead on incorporating various Spider-Man villains.

Doctor Octopus orchestrates his escape from prison and coerces Curt Connors (Lizard) into assisting him. Meanwhile, Spider-Man intervenes to thwart Beetle's bank robbery but faces off against the Spider Slayers instead. Despite overcoming the Spider Slayers, Beetle eludes capture and aligns with Octopus. Learning of Octopus' machinations, Spider-Man confronts Mysterio. Octopus dispatches Green Goblin to pursue Spider-Man, sparking a citywide chase. Venom intervenes, separating the Goblin Glider from Green Goblin, allowing Spider-Man to subdue him. Venom, detaching from Eddie Brock, informs Spider-Man of Carnage's impending threat to New York City, leading to a a final confrontation between Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage.

Gameplay is traditional sidescrolling, with levels progressing along a mostly linear trajectory toward confrontations with formidable bosses. Adding a layer of urgency is a timer, introducing an element of time management that heightens the stakes. The game's difficulty leans toward the easier side for the most part, but certain boss battles can prove demanding. Controlling Spider-Man feels fluid and responsive, with the shoulder buttons facilitating the exhilarating act of web-swinging through the urban landscape.

Overall, "The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes" is an engaging gameplay experience enriched by its faithful portrayal of the beloved superhero and his iconic adversaries. Visually, the game boasts sharp and vibrant graphics, faithfully rendering Spider-Man and his rogues' gallery of villains. Character animations are fluid, and the absence of slowdown ensures smooth gameplay throughout. The game offers a compelling glimpse into the world of Spider-Man, but suffers a bit from the low difficulty level.
