When it comes to the Microsoft Xbox series s and series x, the PlayStation 5 or the PlayStation 5 digital, or the Nintendo switch and Nintendo switch OLED, they all include controllers to allow you to play the system on a television. but not all controllers are created equal. so out of these three options, which modern video game system includes my favorite, or the best, and my least favorite, or the worst, included controller? let's take a look at how I rank them.

Number 3:
Nintendo Switch
okay let's just talk about how bad the Nintendo switch Joy-Cons are for traditional console gaming. The buttons are too small, we all know about Joy-Con drift, and the Joy-Con grip is not very good ergonomically speaking. They did not even include a traditional d-pad on the left Joy-Con, did they? So if you want to play regular platformers where you would use a d-pad instead of an analog stick you can't even do that properly. Nintendo tends to make fantastic controllers, but in my opinion, the Joy-Con grip is not one of them.

Number 2:
Xbox Series S|X
Over the years I have been extremely critical of Microsoft and the controllers for the Xbox. I have not been a fan of them at all. That all changed with the release of the Xbox Series S and Series X controllers as they are the finest controllers Microsoft has ever made. They have much better ergonomics than previous generation controllers and are comfortable to hold. The overall layout and button placement reminds me of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller which is a good thing. But AA batteries? In 2024? Get with it Microsoft.

Number 1:
PlayStation 5 DualSense
When I first saw the DualSense controller I was quite concerned. The thing looked huge! It was a drastic change from the DualShock 4 controller which I was quite fond of. But once I actually went ahead and got my hands on one and started playing games with it, this is one of the greatest controllers ever made. I love the adaptive feedback on the triggers, especially for racing games. It's the weirdest sensation but I hate when I don't have them now. I love the overall feel of these things in my hand, the design, everything. The DualSense is without a doubt the best current generation included controller.
