The Division 2 Beta - i5 4690K & GTX 1070 - FPS Test and Settings
Greetings, everyone.
Today we’re testing The Division 2 Private Beta, since I was invited and I also have a lot interest in the game because I played the first one quite a bit.
My current PC specs are the following:
-CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO.
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97).
-GPU: Inno3D Twin X2 GTX 1070 (stock) and driver 417.58.
-RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB (O.S.), Samsung 750 EVO 500 GB (Game).
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.
-Monitor: AOC AGON AG251FG 1080p-240Hz
It’s not really hard to see that most of the options and menus present here in The Division 2 come directly from its predecessor, both in a good and not so good way. The first game was a very good PC version, with lots of customization and nice settings, and this seems to be the case in The Division 2 as well. But some of the smaller UI annoyances from the previous game are also back here, as this UI in The Division 2 uses seems a bit less polished than what we have in the first game, but still works once you get used to it.
As was the case in the first game for my system, this game seems quite balanced when it comes to both CPU and GPU load, but it tends to lean more towards the CPU bottleneck scenario quite often on my old and trusty 4690K.
We have several presents, from Low to Ultra, and then some variables can go beyond that, like Volumetric Fog with its “Cinematic” setting. Surprisingly, the Antialiasing options are missing in this build of the game, not sure why, but what I’m sure of is that the game is using AA in some form, with Temporal component for sure, like the first game. I hope these settings come back for the final version next month, though.
Just like the first game, my performance can be greatly boosted if I lower the Object Detail and the Extra Streaming Distance settings; A balanced 50% and 5 values for those settings, respectively, already show me a nice improvement while not having excessive popping of objects in the distance, and this allowed me to at least get 60 FPS or higher in most situations. Then again, this is still the beta, there are a lot of documented and known open issues, so the performance of the final product may vary a lot, and most probably improve upon release, as the first game performs noticeable better for me with similar or even slightly higher settings.
Controls seem fine for me, being left handed, nothing bad to say about them, pretty responsive and customizable, with modifier keys if needed too, so good job on that. No mouse acceleration or anything of the sort, all good for me.
For now, that’s it really, too bad the beta didn’t have the Benchmark option enabled, I would have loved a more controlled setting to test things out more.
As usual, I hope this can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you in the next one : )
