In this chapter, Elen takes her sweet time getting familiarized with the various inhabitants, merchants, and guildmasters of Balmora, as she pays visits to several Blade friends of Gaius Cosades and successfully joins both the Mages Guild, the Fighters Guild, and the local Temple - although, as it seems, it will take her quite some time to make any serious advancement in the ranks. She also spends quite some time reading up on the general history of Tamriel, swallowing four big volumes in a single sitting to learn all she can about the ruling Septim dynasty... just in case, you know.
