If you’ve seen The Surge 2 trailer you have the basics: new herpo, new city. The opening to the game shows him waking in a prison and trying to piece his life back together as he tries to break other people into pieces. If you saw our earlier The Surge 2 preview and impressions (you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/oLK_bwCwnF4) you’ll know that the game has added a few tweaks: new weapon types, new finishers, a support drone, directional parries and a world that is much more dense with shortcuts and hidden corners. Jericho City is a more exciting world to explore than the junkyards of the first game - you only see a bit of the outside world in this Surge 2 gameplay, but it gets the idea across.
The Surge 2 opening is already much better than the first game, introducing it’s limb-chopping combat and upgrade system in a really smooth way. In this The Surge 2 PC gameplay, also look out for a couple of new Surge 2 boss fights, as we take on a prison warden in order to get a drone of our own. You also see a glimpse of The Surge 2 character creation, but we didn;t dwell on it in order to get to the action. We’ll be going into all this in more detail in next week’s impressions videos - it won’t be The Surge 2 review, of course, as we only played the first four hours. But we got a good idea of what to expect from that. The video is only in 1080p - we did play Surge 2 PC, but were not able to tinker with visual setting just yet. We will need to get the code in our hands before testing the tech more thoroughly.
I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played of The Surge 2 so far - it seems like a much improved sequel with a more interesting setting and a better grasp of that central limb-chopping system. I also really like the new punching weapon class, as I’ll go into more detail in next week’s video.
