The First Descendant Steam Beta - Day 5 Patch - RX Vega 56 - Custom settings test
Note that the low poly objects issue at close distance and darker shadows happen due to my outdated drivers on the system. I have tested the game on an up-to-date system with an RX 6700 XT in it and there were no such graphical problems with things popping in and out.
After the day 5 patch you can customize your graphical settings in detail, which gives pretty good performance in return despite the game having no optimizations due to its Beta state. Just turning down Global Illumination and Visibility to High, Shadows and Reflections to Medium and Effect and Foliage to Low/Very Low gives between 40 to 60 fps (depending on location) at 3840 x 1600 resolution and FSR 2.1 at Performance.
Looking at the power consumption of the GPU, compared to the normal 190W-215W I get in other games, I expect at least 20% uplift in performance at official release.
