Hey guys! Daniel from Game & Gig here and I’d like to take you on a little stroll down memory lane. All the way back to 1989. Little did we know that the way we thought about gaming on the go was about to change forever when the original Game Boy hit the scene. This 8 bit powerhouse was rocking a dot matrix screen and unapologetically introduced us to that, now iconic, green color scheme. Although objectively inferior in processing power to its main competition at the time in the Sega Game Gear and the Atari Lynx, the Game Boy quickly rose to the top of the food chain due to its battery life, durability, and great selection of games selling one million units in the US alone within its first few weeks. It didn’t end there though, as the Game Boy continued to sell like hot cakes (if hot cakes could play Tetris) and eventually became the third best selling game console of all time and one of the most iconic pieces of, not only gaming, but tech history ever.
