11Full gameplay longplay, playthrough / walkthrough / trueplay of the PlayStation 3 version of The House of the Dead III, survival mode is the original arcade version of the game. The third game in the series seems to have been changed around somewhat in development. Early screenshots show the game with cell shaded graphics, but the final game didn't uses them, suggestion is the game looked to much like a cartoon with them, so they were dropped.
This third game's biggest change is the shotgun lightgun you had to pump to roload. You also now get a reload animation on screen when this happen you are prevented from shooting. This change causes a huge in balance with the game as a result and remove all margin for error. Which is made worse on the console versions as most add in additional controller delay. The PlayStation Move controller sadly has trigger jam due to it's design where shots don't register. So this makes the game very very tricky to clear without taking hits. No people to rescue this time around either, but you do sometimes have to protect your partner for a extra life. Do all the rescues and as with the previous games you get a bonus room, in this case right before the Wheel of Fate boss fight.
Design wise it's seems to follow the stage layout of the first game, but with the route system scaled back almost totally. You basically get to pick which order you do the main levels in and this also changes the ending pending on the order you do it in. Story is a little odd for this one, it seems like it may have originally been the swansong for the series with the game set 20 years after the first game. G and Rogan both appear as does Lisa, Rogan's and Sophie's daughter along with Daniel Curien the son of Dr. Curien. Due to the timeline of this title all the later games have taken place before it.
The House of the Dead III is somewhat flawed compared to the previous games, the stage design is just rather generic and doesn't feel as good as the Curien Mansion or the city in the second game, even four and Scarlet Dawn just are a bit more interesting in their look. Graphics are okay, but not that impressive for the time and the textures for the models and environment looked better on the second game even if the models use less polygons.
Music is rather weak this time around and you forget it is even there, it's not a patch on the first game's score. All in all it's a solid, entry in the series, a decent game that fails to improve in anyway on the previous entries.
Solid run by Riven who did fairly well up until the final boss, this was the second run Riven record, this was better at the start, but much worse at the final boss. Had a graphics bug, so didn't use the first run, PlayStation Move trigger jammed on me a few times, you can see it at the bosses where shots don't appear that quickly.
