5Playing Street Fighter Alpha 3' ("Upper") in the PS2 Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, in Vs. CPU mode, using random character and stage selection. : )
The character selection picks an -ism for you, which is handy, and the stage selection (you press or hold Select, I think it is), which cycles--I think--through the stages very rapidly, is nice in that when you release the button, a stage is highlighted but not yet selected, so you have a chance to run the stage cycling again if it landed on one you aren't fond of (although I did pick Ryu's monochromatic wasteland once by accident : P).
I never really got into Alpha in the olden days, but by gum if VS CPU mode in 3' isn't a rollicking good time! So many colorful characters, so many lovely stages, all the meter permutations (and I'm not even going into the additional permutations of the modes--Mazi, Saikyo, etc), so many peppy tunes and sounds, and that slick UI tying everything together. What a great package!
Oh and I set the matches to be best of 5 rounds, and set the damage low, to make them into real marathon jawbreakers! Also to save me from having to re-pick characters so often. ; ) But I find I do enjoy the long match format, where you really feel like you settle in and sink your teeth into the fight.
