Still can't figure out the entering and reentering town problem for why stuff keeps slowing down until the resolution is changed. Other parts of the game are running just fine after all,

I've been forced to run away from stuff quite a bit. I'm starting to feel like this game is fundamentally different from the games I'm told its inspired by. In many SaGa games you can wait until later in the game to grind or you're actually punished for grinding like a crazy person, but in this one, it feels like you're encouraged to spend a long time in a single area grinding before moving on, because you want to spend time filling out the map while fighting to gain new abilities and maybe learning magic, and once the map is filled in, you're then encouraged to go ahead and try to move to the next area.
