Buggy Game is out on steam, and offers an extremely challenging retro racing and simulator experience for gamers who would like to prove they can take out their competitors who are hogging the racing line.

I can recommend Buggy game to players who like something a little simpler in terms of graphics and audio style, whilst still offering the chance to tackle a course to try and beat your own time, and work your way through the field in the campaign mode.

I was going to make a video about Buggy game a bit sooner, but I've actually been taking a break from making videos, and also for one very simple yet kind of important reason. You see this very old school arcade game is a lot harder than it looks, and whilst I thought I would spend my time just smashing through the field and getting easy wins, the early part of playing this game was seriously one miserable failure.

I remember playing racing games like Pole Position on the Atari back in the day, so I actually do feel pretty excited when getting the chance to tackle a new retro style game. This one is actually by the same developers called Properly Decent, that made BALLSY??? A retro football game i covered back a few years so you know this is definitely right up there alley.

If you look at their steam page, the first thing it says is for buyers to beware, as this is not an arcade game, rather a simulator game, probably should have read that before starting.

Buggy game is an old school retro simulator racer that allows you to unlock new cars, change things like break controls and other jazz that I have no idea what it means, and race greta to the finish line. By racing, I mean watch her shoot off into the distance while you lag ever so far behind.

it is a challenging game by all account, but quite fair, and a racer that will definitely allow you to see the improvements as you persist with it. Hitting other cars and terrain will cause you car damage which for me, lead to a lot of early crash outs, and in the campaign mode, if you crash out of one race, your done for the rest. To be honest, I've not even finished a single campaign yet, but at least I'm not coming last in all my races now!

Buggy game has a few modes to tackle alongside the campaign mode. I really like the time trial mode, although I get the feeling the developer's ghost car is cheating, as it's always just ahead of me even when I feel I am doing a perfect run, there surely no other reason right. You can take on the different terrain courses and get the choice of short medium and long tracks which is handy for me, as short form is much easier to survive.

The AI are pretty competitive and will not budge in giving you the racing line so you're going to have to be strategic and aggressive to get through. My initial strategy of just bumping them out of the way doesn't work, and in a game that can see you drop to the back of the field after one mistake, it's quite tense towards the end of the race if you're doing okay.

Buggy Game will cost you just a few dollars, and ill post the link below if you're interested, and is a game that retro car racing and simulator fans would like. Recon this one would be pretty cool on the steam deck as well. Let me know what you think!
