Today we're taking a blast to the past to the Shea Weber sweepstakes of the 2012 offseason. Back then, Shea Weber was a star defenceman for the Nashville Predators, heading into an RFA year. This is when the idea of the offer sheet entered the mix.
Going over a few articles back at the time, it's apparent that the teams in the sweepstakes for the offer sheet were the Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, and Philadelphia Flyers.
Even though Weber is now the captain of the Montreal Canadiens and one of the Habs' most valuable players, I thought it'd be fun to take a look at the possibilities as to what could've been.
