Chapter 5 begins with the fallout from the bombshell at the end of chapter 4. Ava questions TOM and the ISA's intentions of using humans as drones to conduct their research. The International Space Agency had all crew members implanted with chips as a fail-safe should the human crew deter from the ISA's original plans.
A restricted area leads to the Chinese Room Turing Test as mentioned by TOM earlier in the game. But finding the right combination of blue, green, and pink balls proves to be tricky. Eventually, I get inside to unlock the Chinese Room achievement (optional room 5). Inside, we see the Chinese writings that have been passed back and forth through a slot in a door. Audio logs reveal an argument between Mikhail and TOM. Does TOM really have emotions? Can he think for himself?
New elements are added to the puzzles as I must jump between TOM cameras to get a better vantage point. I'm also able to control door mechanisms and magnets through the surveillance systems. A TOM robot is used in the final sector puzzle to aide in its solution.
The chapter concludes with TOM showing us the supposed evil found by the other crew member. Micro organisms in a sterile lab. Is the other crew planning to bring the microbes back to Earth? TOM thinks that's a bad idea.
Join me as I walkthrough these puzzles for the first time and guide Ava along the path in search for answers. The Turing Test video game smartly takes it name and inspiration from the real life Turing tests, developed by Alan Turing.
