The Witcher 3 [Gameplay #8] - Last Mutant Standing [Death March Difficulty]
The first 50 hours of gameplay clearly isn't enough for stupid people like me to "get" the fight mechanics on Witcher 3's highest difficulty setting, and I still make a lot of obvious mistakes which the game can hardly be blamed for. That said, I don't think the combat in TW3 works very well (which isn't to say that the action itself can't be satisfying, which it often is). In terms of dedicated realtime RPG systems, I would have preferred something much more fast-paced and responsive (Kingdoms of Amalur comes to mind) over Geralt's lumbering animations and limited attack patterns. There's a consistent design philosophy behind the White Wolf's deliberate playstyle, for sure, but given how problematic the camera and inadequate lock-on targeting already is it's not much fun to also be artificially limited by Geralt's general sluggishness.
