Batman: Arkham Knight (2015) (PC) (Rocksteady Studios)
They say Batman is the hero we need and not the hero we want, but I'm not sure Arkham Knight was a game we either wanted nor needed. The first game in Rocksteady's celebrated third person action series invited the player to the dense and atmospheric microcosm of supervillainy that was Arkham Asylum, while the second entry massively expanded the scope and scale by including the whole of Gotham city. Arkham Origins (the *actual* third game in the series, mind you) by Warner Bros Games Montreal did little more than rehash the B:AC concept, and there's just not that much more meaningful stuff left to do gameplay-wise with the aging formula originally introduced six long years ago.
That being said, Arkham Knight's opening 30 minutes are expertly put together in terms of structure, pacing and overall cinematic quality, which reminds you that Rocksteady is an incredibly talented and experienced bunch of game developers. The PC version seems to be extremely problematic for a lot of people even on powerful hardware, but on my computer it seems to run just fine so far with only minor stuttering at 2560*1440 with max settings.
