Mirror's Edge Pure Time Trial Map Pack (2009) (PC) (DICE)
Despite being a big Mirror's Edge fan (though not a speedrun perfectionist by any means), I've never really checked out the official map pack released in 2009. I did buy it for my original PS3 copy of the game but the new maps inexplicably failed to show up in the Time Trial main menu, and then the DLC was incompatible (and hence not included in the package) with the Steam release once I got the PC port. Much later I also acquired the Origin version of the game, and was thus finally able to buy these fashionably abstract challenge levels (again).
As expected, the map pack is difficult. On the easiest map alone, it took this clumsy fool about four hours of really focused trial-and-error to shave off enough milliseconds to acquire that 3-star rating for the first time...and there is still so much room for improvement even before you start exploiting the control glitches and go for the really crazy alternative paths. It's not necessarily what I would consider "fun", but as always with ME the art style and level design is awesome and truly different from anything else on the market. Can't wait for the open world of Catalyst...
