Garrett meets a traveling showman Vittori who employs Garrett to steal back certain items of value stolen from him. First item is a talking skull that predicts the future.

As soon as you grab the skull the gang members will change their positions and patrols, and unlike in Ector's first client job this time you MUST make sure to grab pretty much everything in the hangout before taking the skull if you intend on not violently assaulting everyone like a fucking amateur. In my experience only the leader is distractable, all the other guys tend to not move from their positions.
This is in my opinion the most fun mission in the first half of the game. Not because of the gameplay, but because at least Larry's dialogue and the talking skull offer that much need entertainment the game lacks everywhere else. I'm not saying the main story, which deals with people going so depressed they go mad and kill themselves violently should have this sort of missions as the main focus since it's quite joke-y and I don't think anybody wants Thief to be a comedy game, but the main game story missions are lacking so much in every regard that this bit of fun right here stands out.
