Thoughts on Dark and Darker (game) October Playtest
00:13 what is Dark and Darker?, 1:59 balance issues, 3:51 spell targeting, 4:35 no group finder, 5:41 shields are obnoxious, 6:51 best group composition for combat, 8:31 loot goblin composition (imo), 9:48 future changes that I can think of
I went over all of my thoughts on this "Tarkov meets Dungeons and Dragons" game
Summary:
There is definately some balance issues due to some classes being way stronger than other classes
Shields don't help with the current infinite block state. If you run a Cleric with a Fighter, you can straight up bully people running twin shields
In my opinion, the best composition for purely combat is Fighter, Cleric, and Ranger. Fighter is versatile. Cleric is healer. Ranger is supporting poke with Spear and Bow plus campfires
For full loot goblin status, then replace the Ranger with the Rogue. It won't do as nearly as much but it can sort of poke with a Rapier
In the future, I would like to see an alternative support class. The analogy/example I gave was a Knight's Hospitaller. Halberd proficiency and a revive. No heal or protection spells like the Cleric but it has a revive
A repeating crossbow would be nice. Crossbows aren't doing great in their current state. All it takes is one miss to end up reloading for awhile. This makes Bows a better choice in the current state
Perhaps a short spear or javelin could be added at a later date
