Building/Buying a Gaming PC at the end of 2022
00:17 before down voting please comment, 1:02 summary of Moore’s Law video, 1:45 6600 and 6700 XT video cards, 2:19 the best brand name I can find, 4:34 hand building – video cards, 6:13 hand building – processors, 7:11 13th Gen intel vs AMD Ryzen 7000, 8:59 summary
I did my best to give a summary of what is going on right now for people who can't wait until next year for a new PC or an upgrade. Or for people who want to take advantage of Black Friday or Holiday deals
Summary:
My last few attempts to summarize and share information was met with down votes and no comments. Please talk to me in the comments before down voting. I give these recordings my best and it would mean a lot to me if you tried to talk to me first. If you down vote me after I can respect that because you talked to me
Moore's Law video was basically saying that AMD is liquidating their older video card stocks in preparation for RDNA 3.. The video cards shown off yesterday at the AMD press conference
The 6600 and 6700XT prices at certain stores are looking good. 6600 is for equivalent or near equivalent performance to an Nvidia RTX 3060. The 6700XT is equivalent or near equivalent to the RTX 3070
With that information given, I started with brand name PC's as they are the most common. I searched Power GPU and many other reputable brand names. The best gaming PC I could find at a reasonable cost was the Horizon 2 PC from Starforge. They want 1,150 USD for an i5 12400, AMD 6650XT, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD
If you are building a PC, I would consider a 6600 or 6700 XT pending prices. As I pointed out, Amazon is charging WAY more for the 6700 XT than NewEgg is. If the 6700 XT is more than 370 USD, I would not consider it
I am ok with 6600's pricing at Amazon because they have a better return policy than NewEgg
If you have access to a physical store like Micro Center that price matches, then that would be an even better solution
I would consider 1 of these 2 video cards plus the Intel i5 13600K, or one of the AMD Ryzen's for a brand new hand build
I did my best to summarize the difference between the 13600K and the Ryzens. I will agree with Gamer's Nexus and the other channels that the 13600K is good for budget builds using DDR4 RAM
However, if you can afford more (DDR5 and other parts), then I would go with the latest AMD Ryzens
My reasoning for this decision is simple. The new AMD Ryzen's are cool, have no thermal throttling, and AMD supports these platforms for a long time. Thanks to the no thermal throttling, you can boost the new AMD Ryzen's to close the performance gap between them and the i5 13600K
I failed to mention it but if you Stream and Game.. Hand building it is the way to go right now. The costs are too high right now with brand names. You can build an i5 13600K or an AMD Ryzen streaming and gaming PC for far less
The i5 13600K has 14 total cores so that is more than enough for Streaming and Gaming
