Whether you’re stalking the nightmares of children or you’re fending off hordes of the undead, you need the right weapon to get the job done. In this video, we’re going to take a look back at some of the most creative, most efficient, and just generally awe-inspiring weapons to ever make it into horror films. Keep in mind, this list is in no particular order; after all, it’s hard to compare and contrast weapons made to kill vampires with those made to kill human teenagers, etc. etc. etc.

#1: Quad-Barrel - (From Phantasm Series)

This thing was nicknamed the “dwarf-cutter,” and does its job of cutting the Tall Man’s surprisingly formidable slaves into an even more manageable size. Throughout the four Phantasm sequels, it becomes Reggie’s weapon of choice, after he spends most of the original film as hapless and mostly helpless comic relief. The quad-barrel has been the end of countless reanimated threats, and helped elevate Reggie to being the face of the series. Not to mention standing alone as a real emblem of taking the fight to the ghouls level’.

#2: The Post-Puncher - (From Jeepers Creepers 2)

They say there’s nothing stronger than the love you have for your child and the Creeper is about to find that out the hard way after he abducts the wrong little boy. Jack Taggart and his other son get to work on a contraption they believe they can use to subdue the creature -- a modified post-puncher that can shoot a harpoon, which will hook the creeper and reel him in like a fish.

#3: Ash’s Chainsaw (From Evil Dead series)

So, what can you do when your own hand has become possess and is beginning to turn against you? Well, you have man-up and do exactly what Ashley did in the Evil Dead series -- cut if off. However, you can’t very well fiend off all of those pesky demons one-handed, so what are you going to do to even the score? Well, with a little bit of creativity and ingenuity, you could do exactly what Ash did and attach an ass-kicking chainsaw to your wrist.

#4: Power Loader (From Aliens)

So, what are you going to do when no one listened to you and Aliens have slaughtered practically everyone in your entire crew, but there’s still a little girl that has lost everything and she’s counting on you? Do you take the opportunity to abandon her and make your escape? Hell no! You step up to the plate and kick some alien ass, which is exactly what Ripley did near the end of Aliens -- resulting in one of the most bad ass lines ever spoken in a horror film.

#5: Chainsaw (from Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3)

What can you get someone like Leatherface for a gift? The dude had to be crazy-hard to go Christmas shopping for. Apart from hanging people on meat hooks and cutting them up for some award-winning chili, the guy doesn’t have many hobbies. Still, Leather needed himself a new toy in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 and he got one of the most bad-ass weapons we’ve ever seen in a horror film.

#6: Pimped-Out Tire Iron (From Sorority Row)

An implement which one victim simply dubs a “pimped-out tire iron.” Sporting a hunting knife, a throwing knife, some machete kind of thing and a harpoon, with it, you can have *all* the versatility of the Swiss Army model, while shedding all that unneeded subtlety. Also, it’s got a rope attached, so you can also yank people back to you like Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat games. Let’s go ahead and add Sorority Row’s killer to the roster for Terrordrome 2, please!

#7: Sphere - (Phantasm)

Who would ever think that a simple sphere could become such a memorable weapon in horror films? Well, with a few alterations, that’s exactly what the flying spheres from the Phantasm series have become. We first saw them in action in the original film when they functioned as some sort of a flying embalming tool -- equipped with blades that could pierce into a victim, allowing them to become attached to the unfortunate soul’s forehead, at which point a drill would emerge, to burrow into the victim and pump out all their blood. Upon seeing this, one brilliant film reviewer dubbed it “the first digital age vampire.” But it was just the beginning for these go-to weapons of The Tall Man.

#8: Freddy’s Glove (A Nightmare On Elm Street Series)

Who would have guessed that the ultimate tool of unconscious carnage would be cooked up in the boiler room of a man who intended it for mangling children. Yet as Freddy Krueger found his death via mob justice, his finalized Krueger Cougar Claws survived, and crossed over with him to become the most formidable weapon of the most prolific murderer in the dream world.

#9 - Guitar Drill (From Slumber Party Massacre 2)

#10 - Stake Gun (From From Dusk Till Dawn)
