Bout presents: Top Gear 3000 ㅡ Versus Mode, Race 8+

As we reach the omega episode in the saga of "Top Gear 3000: The Pegasus Chronicles," Episode 8 – Versus Mode, Race 8+, emerges as the crowning jewel in our intergalactic odyssey.

In this climactic Versus Mode, players are beckoned to the cosmic arena, where up to four participants can partake in the grand cosmic spectacle with the aid of a multitap. The cosmic battleground dynamically splits into quadrants, crafting an immersive experience for each contender. A seamless integration of AI opponents ensures that even in the absence of a full cosmic crew, the race remains intense and unpredictable.

The individuality of each race is preserved as a standalone affair, reminiscent of the roots of the iconic Top Gear gameplay. Before the cosmic engines roar to life, participants are tasked with a pivotal decision – the selection of speed, acceleration, and boost combinations. The grandeur of The Pegasus, draped in regal purple, takes center stage as the primary cosmic chariot. A masterpiece of engineering, The Pegasus boasts low acceleration, high maximum speed, and a medium boost, setting the stage for a cosmic spectacle.

High standardsㅡface the Versus Mode, the cosmic crucible of competition, transforms each point into a precious cosmic gem, harking back to the scoring system of the Championship Mode. However, in this final cosmic chapter, the point values undergo a recalibration, injecting an air of unpredictability into the race, ensuring that each twist and turn contributes to the tapestry of our grand cosmic finale.

As we bid adieu to The Pegasus Chronicles, Episode 8 stands as a testament to the fusion of futuristic innovation and the timeless allure of cosmic racing. Join us on this final lap, where the legacy of Top Gear 3000 intertwines with the spirit of competition, leaving an indelible mark on the cosmic racing landscape.

Thank you very much for being a part of this epic voyage.

Top Gear 3000, known in Japan as The Planet's Champ: TG3000 (プラネットチャンプ TG3000), is a racing game developed by Gremlin Interactive and published by Kemco for the Super Nintendo. It's the sequel to Top Gear 2, and the last in the Top Gear series to be developed by Gremlin Interactive.

In Versus Mode, up to four players can play with the addition of a multitap. The screen is always split four ways; if there are fewer than four players, AI opponents will form up the remainder. Each race is a stand-alone affair on a single track, with players choosing from four different speed/acceleration/boost combinations (similar to original Top Gear) before the race begins.

The car selection is similar to the original Top Gear game. Points are given out just like in Championship Mode. But point values are different.

Planets of the conglomerate—the game has two distinct modes of gameplay, with Championship mode and Versus mode, both being the most expansive. Cars are limited by the range of their fuel, and of the condition of their frame; players gain fuel by driving over the red Recharge strips, and repair their car's structural integrity by driving over the blue Repair Strips.

On release, Famicom Tsūshin scored the game a 21 out of 40. GamePro commented that the game is solidly made, but derivative. They elaborated that the weapons are not truly important to the action and that many of the outer space locales "look suspiciously Earthlike", leaving the "terrific" four-player mode as the only element to set Top Gear 3000 apart from the many racers which preceded it. Nintendo Power gave it a rating of 3.2/5.

Due to the capabilities of the new chip DSP-4 used for this game, it was the first game in the series that was possible to split the track in two different directions with different lengths, sometimes intentionally making one route much faster than the other. Top Gear 3000 was the only game in the history of the Super NES to use this chip.
