While I was mucking around in the scenario editor on a different route (I forget which one), I realised that I had a freeware GWR Railcar. I think this was from one of the UKTS Freeware Packs.

Anyway, I decided to take the GWR Railcar for a spin (naturally). The route is The Trawsfynydd Branch Line, which is available from Backdated TrainSim. The route covers the former-GWR line from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Trawsfynydd as it was in the early 1990s, shortly before it was mothballed. At this time, the line's only source of traffic was the nuclear power station at Trawsfynydd.

This video is a run in the GWR Railcar from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Trawsfynydd. Sitting in Blaenau Ffestiniog station were two narrow-gauge engines from the Ffestiniog Railway - David Lloyd George and Palmerston. DLG was coupled to the Victorian Train. At the end of the line, we come across a Class 31 with two nuclear flask wagons.

I must admit, I quite like the relaxed atmosphere of this route. Welsh railways have always looked very pretty in my opinion, and being restricted to 25 miles per hour gives me a good chance to admire the scenery.
