When travelling by train from Amsterdam to Leiden you will come across this tower sticking out of the landscape just before you arrive at Leiden Central. I've always wanted to visit this place, even more when I discovered that is was a ruine. The place is known as "Oude Toren" which means the Old Tower. What makes it unique is that while the church was abandoned in 1874, the graveyard stayed open at the same spot up untill this day.

Additional Info:
- The village of Warmond can be reached by taking bus line 50 (Haarlem - Leiden) from the following train stations: Haarlem, Hillegom, Sassenheim and Leiden Central. Fare depends on the distance travelled. Current operator is Arriva ~ https://www.arriva.nl/consumers.htm
- The Oude Toren and Huys te Warmond can both be visited from sunrise till sunset everyday of the year.
- When visiting the Oude Toren (Ruined Church) please be aware that this is a graveyard still in use. There are some recent graves and there might be a funeral taking place from time to time. I've spoken to the guide I met there and he said that it's still okay to visit when you see other people there visiting the graves. Just keep a distance and be considered when taking pictures of the ruines. When a funeral is taking place, he suggest you to visit Huys te Warmond first before coming back later.
