[TRIP REPORT] Stena Line Day Time Ferry From Hoek van Holland to Harwich
The Stena Line ferry from Hoek van Holland in The Netherlands to Harwich in the United Kingdom is one of the slowest ways possible to travel from Amsterdam to London. The journey takes around 12 hours and yet it is a very popular route to take. Especially for those travelling by bike or car as the ferry can transport them with ease!
However, how is the journey on the day time ferry if travelling as a foot passenger from Amsterdam to London? There used to be a direct "boat train" from Amsterdam to Hoek van Holland Haven, but now you have to transfer to a metro at Schiedam Centrum to reach the port. On the English side the "boat train" still exist and brings you direct to London Liverpool Street from Harwich International in 1h29m.
We take an extensive look onboard of the Stena Hollandica used on this route to explore how the journey is like and what the food offerings are onboard. This video won't cover the cabin which you can book for this trip, but instead will focus more on the other facilities of the ferry. The Stena Britannica is the sister ship of the Hollandica and offers the same facility and service.
The Stena Line Rail & Sail ticket enables you to travel to any Greater Anglia train station from Hoek van Holland or the other way around. This deal is from 75 EUR or 49 GBP one way and can be booked on the Stena Line website. Because a last minute train ticket is very expensive in the United Kingdom, this ticket offers great value for those who want to travel to and from London.
