The beautiful island of Shikoku can be reached by train from Okayama via the Great Seto Bridge. JR Shikoku in cooperaion with JR West connects various cities in Shikoku with Honshu, the main island of Japan. Places like Takamatsu, Matsuyama and Kochi all enjoy direct rail links with Okayama from where passengers can connect to the Shinkansen to Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.

The Limited Express Shiokaze connects Okayama with Matsuyama and offers stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea. The complete journey takes over 2 hours and 42 minutes to completed and is operated by either 8000 series or 8600 series tilting trains. The latter being the newest and one my favorite trains of Japan.
