China Eastern Airlines often offers steeply discounted tickets between Europe, Asia and Oceania. Prices are very affordable and also far below that of other competitors. Some flights do include a long layover in Shanghai, but there are also many with just a short connection time.

In this trip report we are going to have a look at how a longhaul flight with China Eastern is onboard of the Boeing 777-300ER as well as how transferring works at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The journey starts in Seoul and goes to Amsterdam with a 3,5 hour layover in Shanghai.

Thanks to my Flying Blue Platinum Status I could also enjoy the China Eastern business class lounge in Shanghai. The airline has multiple lounges over at Pudong, but you may only use the lounge which is the closest to your departure gate. We depart from the new satellite concourse and visit business class lounge no. 137.
