[TRIP REPORT] China Airlines Airbus A350-900 From Taipei TPE To Amsterdam AMS In Economy Class
China Airlines is a small player on the Asia to Europe market. Flying to just a handful of destinations which are Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Prague, Rome and Vienna from its Taipei hub in Taiwan with a small longhaul fleet of just the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER.
In this trip report, we are going to cover what it's like to travel with China Airlines on a longhaul flight. How much food do they offer and what kind of extras can we expect to make a flight of 14 hours and 40 minutes in economy comfortable?
Before it got banned from Russian airspace, China Airlines was also not allowed to fly through Chinese airspace. Except for some parts in Southern China like Hainan and Yunnan. This is ofcourse due to geo political tension between Taiwan and China.
Till 2022 they flew a creative route departing east from Taipei to Japan and then taking the polar route to Europe via Russia. Now the airline has to fly via India and Persia to reach Europe, adding even more flight time. When the wind is unfavourable, the duration of the flight might even exceed 15 hours.
