Did some further checking - definitely no !PHI clock signal coming out of the 40010 gate array.

I have a 40010 from an MC0002D board - stuck it in the problem MC0002C board and could now see the clock signal into the Z80.

However still no video output - when I put the "working" 40010 back into the original MC0002D board it didn't boot: no video, no [beep] when I pressed [DEL] key. But I could definitely see RGBS signals coming from the 40010 ...

So investigation continues - 40010 gate array or 6845 CRTC?
