Following discussion in the comments of my Part 6 video with @lilbill6089 and @markevans2294 I thought a follow-up video should be done.

As Mark pointed out there is indeed a 12V regulator on the main board, consisting of a transistor and zener diode ... this drops the 20V+ coming in from the PSU to +12V which is then only used for biasing the composite video output buffer.
As this isn't being used (converted to RGB output) then there is no real need for the incoming 20V+ at all!
So, final mod is to leave the 12V wire in the PSU disconnected - the machine is now running on +5V only ... like pretty much every other Speccy clone!
