Typist | Pinnacle of Darkness | No Failure Run
15A world of limitless possibilities, and the possibility of limitless worlds. The modding universe never ceases to wow me. A Typing of the Dead-style mod for Doom where you either type fast, or perish fast. Well, not exactly, you could still shoot your guns normally and stuff (I imagine shootable switches would be a nightmare if you can't shoot your weapons manually), but the spirit of typing your enemies to death is still there. It also helps that it slows down enemies along with their projectiles if you're on Type Mode, sorta bullet time-ish but not really.
You could use this mod with just about most gameplay mods, it's actually designed rather flexibly. I only got one complaint, and it's really a minor one. The auto detection thing. I could enter/exit type mode at will, but sometimes it'll do it by itself and I'll end up going to main menu instead (which happens WAY too often for comfort, as this run would show). Aside from that though, it's the only complaint I got for this mod, it's well done, couldn't recommend it any faster.
This mod originally didn't came with any view keyboard sprites. Naturally, I got my mitts all over it. Not exactly excellent, but it suffices to fit the theme better. They're all just vanilla Doom weapons otherwise (with damage boosts by Typist to mitigate lower rate of fire from all the typing), so aside from that it's mostly some good ol' Doom action.
Anyways, the map played. Pinnacle of Darkness. An excellent map. Lovely architecture, I didn't get lost too often, and the enemy encounter is just right for ol' Typist to shine. Any more and I think my hands would start getting cramps from all the typing. Goodness knows how bad it could get on slaughtermaps, it'd be one heck of a typing tutor, that's for sure. Music was also nice, though for some strange beyond comprehension reason YT around the midpoint ID-ed it, you'll notice a muted bit around the middle, sorry for that.
I'm playing on UV/Dying Enabled. Direct recording this time, Typist isn't compatible with demos.
