I remember this game being pure badassery back when I was a kid. Even today, while the game is hard as heck, there's something strangely appealing about it. It's like an olden day Grand Theft Auto. I mean, you can go about your business in any town or street, but if you're in a bad mood, you can kill women and children, crush the king's guards, or steal from the local bank and poor people. If that wasn't enough, you couldn't jack people's cars, but you could steal a pirate's boat. This game has a certain level of "realism" for an old game that's simply captivating, even if the game itself may or may not seem great.

Making sure everyone is fed, watching out for traps and perilous monsters and making sure you don't die from a cold is hard work. You can even SEE enemies on the map in advance and give the beautiful (...?) Sherry flowers. Whatever you do though, don't fight Lord British. Besides simply being a really bad idea, you WILL die. He's so powerful, you'd wonder why he didn't deal with Exodus himself.

Heck, this game is so full of mischief, you can find whirlpools in the ocean. Ordinarily, you want to avoid danger like that, but U:Exodus REWARDS you for being a complete fool. Yes, the shrines of Ambrosia lie beneath those whirlpools and the shrines boost your power. You lose your ship and there is a good chance that doom awaits you, but man...what joy! Its partial sandbox feel makes it stand out considerably.

In all seriousness though, the game has sweet music but tedious gameplay abound. Enjoy.
