Asakura! (which is the abbreviation for Assault Crisis, with "Asa" being "Assault" and "Kura" being "Crisis"; it also means "Oh Sakura!") is typically refered to by Sodom, the developer, as a Mega Man + Metroid hybrid in the sense that the player controls like Mega Man but with the exploration of a Metroid title. While the game isn't entirely like either (and sets itself apart further as the game series progresses), it's still an enjoyable enough game in its own right.

The sequel to Asakura is quite literally more of the same. The interface has been tweaked slightly and the game has SLIGHTLY improved visuals + additional animations, and another great soundtrack. Switching weapons is more convenient now as it was pretty wierd in the first game (you had to switch while moving) and the game's view pans out now, making rooms and dungeons feel much bigger like Metroid now (instead of only having a horizontal emphasis like the original, or old Mega Man titles). The weapons aren't too different, though our heroine decided to use a magic sword this time in lieu of a barrier to repel bullets, which takes more skill to use effectively.

As far as I can tell, your character still doesn't appear to have a name. She is always refered to as the girl or hero on the website. This time, the game takes place three months after the original. As an accomplished maze romper, the heroine is just kicking back and taking it easy when word gets out that the four sacred treasures she found were stolen again. While the heroine wasn't doing much of anything, the monster forces have recovered from their defeat and are more vicious than ever. While she decides to retrieve the treasures again, she decides to seal the treasures forever so no one can get to them.

She can still improve her parameters on her quest and utilize five main weapons, as well as purchase items from shops, but she doesn't start her quest entirely from scratch. Her basic shot starts more powerful than in the first game and she jumps higher by default as well. The game also has more treasures than before. It is the second game in the Asakura! series, with three currently overall (the third which will likely be introduced at Comiket 78). This video demonstrates a few things from tutorial stuff to taking damage and navigating menus. It's a decent old-school action game. Enjoy.
