As far as I understand, Asylum would have been the area where Buc's Den now is. This map indeed has a formation that reminds one for the cliffs northeast of Buc's Den in the finished game, supposedly what should have been the Isle of Fire.

Otherwise it's like the E3 demo map and original Cove mashed together, just less interesting. Or my expectations are too high now.

I found next to no information on what or why this area would have been. As far as I know, "Asylum" means "hospital for mentally disabled". Dictionaries also list something like "safe haven" as a possible meaning, so maybe this would have been a hiding place of those fighting the corruption of the columns?

Actually, there are a couple other maps with "Asylum" in the title, just they either crash or don't have much anything. Seems like they would have been caves and dungeons.
