v81 For Quest Will Be Huge! New Features, Vive Eagle, Samsung XR & More!

The Meta Quest v81 PTC has landed, and it brings a complete overhaul to the home environment — one of the biggest changes to the platform’s interface in years. Meanwhile, Oakley’s long-awaited Meta smart glasses are now officially shipping, adding another style option to Meta’s growing lineup. And at the upcoming Meta Connect, developers will be getting a first look at a brand-new Smart Glasses SDK.
On the Quest 3 side, the SDK is also evolving: developers can now use QR code tracking in mixed reality apps, opening up a whole new set of possibilities. For players, Meta is offering a rare deal — a massive 30% discount code for Quest games across the store.
The competition isn’t slowing down either. Valve has announced Steam Link support is coming to Pico headsets, while HTC is entering the smart glasses race with its newly revealed Vive Eagle. Samsung’s upcoming Android XR headset is also making headlines, with reports pointing to a price range between $1,800 and $3,000.
