Meta Knew Quest v77 Was Broken! Bug Vision Pro PSVR2 Update, New XR HMDs & More!
867We’ve got a ton of XR headlines to cover this week, starting with a bit of controversy: Meta reportedly pushed out the Quest v77 update knowing it contained major bugs. Despite past promises to improve quality control, the rollout included several known issues — leaving users frustrated and once again raising concerns about internal testing standards.
Meanwhile, Samsung might be gearing up to launch its Android XR headset as soon as next month, making it a potential major competitor in the standalone space. On the AR side, Snap confirmed plans to launch consumer-focused smart glasses in 2026, while Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon AR1+ — a chip designed specifically for lightweight smart eyewear.
Over in the Apple ecosystem, visionOS 2.6 was officially announced with new rendering features and improved controller support. Vision Pro now has limited compatibility with PlayStation VR2 controllers, both natively and through ALVR, and macOS itself is stepping into spatial computing with native support for spatial rendering. On the Microsoft side, one developer is attempting to breathe life back into Windows Mixed Reality via SteamVR support.
