Quest 4 Reportedly Cancelled! Quest Upgrades, Meta XR Goggles & Lots More!
833Meta has some big plans for the future of XR—and they’re not what we expected. Instead of pushing forward with Quest 4 in the near term, Meta is now prioritizing “Puffin,” an ultra-lightweight VR headset aimed for 2026, with Quest 4 now reportedly delayed to 2027. This new headset is expected to cost under $1000, include a compute puck, and aim for maximum comfort and portability.
In more immediate news, Quest’s browser now supports experimental colocation features in WebXR, and Meta’s UK users can now finance their Quest purchases through a new "Play Now, Pay Later" system. Meta is also reportedly working with major studios like Disney and A24 to bring immersive video content to Horizon OS. Meanwhile, Android XR branding is causing some confusion across the ecosystem.
On the content side, Survios has announced they are pulling back from VR development on Alien: Rogue Incursion to focus on the flatscreen version instead.
