As SUPER8BITRAFA, Jacob Estrada has worked in rapid prototyping for years.

His talk: After creating over 100 prototypes in the span of two years my talk will examine prototyping as an essential skill for indie game devs. I break down what lessons I have learned while undertaking game jams and short projects from the perspective of a visual and performing artist. I share key lessons for beginning developers and observations based on failures and struggles in the medium. While offering universal techniques and best practices based on my multidisciplinary experiences I will present theories that cross artistic mediums based on traditions of aesthetics, design, and storytelling. As I encourage a broader conversation on the direction of the medium and challenge common notions about learning game design, I present the question: What is the essential anatomy of a game and how do we attain the minimum characteristics of interactive storytelling with no budget or experience?
