A rare racing game based on the Formula One series from the Sega Genesis is here, and we have what is Sega's complete answer to Nintendo's Star Fox on the Super NES, and also THE most impossible port of a high-end arcade to a 16-bit console. The smash 1992 arcade hit, Virtua Racing, was revolutionary for being one of the first ever 3D games, and Sega managed to port it accurately on the Genesis in '94 with a very powerful enhancement chip called the Sega Virtual Processor (SVP). Though the Genesis is technologically inferior to the SNES, the SVP itself, running at 23 MHz, surpasses even its rival's Super FX 2 chip in processing power and created a level of 3D polygon graphics which is 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 in the era of 2D home gaming, almost matching the 32-bit generation of PS1 and N64 (ironically this game is also on the Saturn). Unfortunately, the SVP was extremely expensive to make and this is the ONLY non-add on Genesis game to have such an impressive, rare feat. Unsurprisingly, the original retail price was quite high, costing $100 (about $𝟮𝟭𝟬 today). Nevertheless, this is almost certainly the most advanced 16-bit game ever, even though like Star Fox, Virtua Racing's 3D graphics are clearly out of date compared to nowadays.

Because the game is much like Namco's Pole Postion, I used a cheat to make the time limit stop to let me make it through all laps in the courses.

Fun Fact: The F1 arcade was made by the same people who created the iconic NASCAR-based Daytona USA, and this came first.
