What made Legend of Zelda such a beloved Nintendo franchise for so long? Well, let's head back to the game that started it all. Initially made for the Japan-only Famicom Disk System in 1986 (as its launch title), then internationally on the NES in '87 with a golden cartridge, Link's very first adventure was a big hit back in the day, as it was the first ever game to save data. Looking back, however, although it was revolutionary at the time due to its non-linearity, the original Zelda did not age well today compared to the later 2D titles, as seen in certain gameplay aspects and basic story, plus getting Ruppes is extremely tedious and it also demands you to have Bombs (cheats are used to prevent this issue). Not to mention, the main quest can be finished very quickly with expert knowledge or using a 100% guide, despite people in the 1980s didn't had internet and could've taken weeks if not months to beat the game without reading the manual. I am playing the original ROM known to have the infamous mistranslations as seen in some in-game text.

Link's objective to save Hyrule for the first time is to collect the 8 shards of Zelda's Triforce of Wisdom whom she shattered to prevent Ganon, who has the Triforce of Power, from obtaining it while she herself needs to be rescued. Interestingly, the Triforce of Courage nor the Master Sword did not exist yet, and to kill Ganon, you need the Silver Arrows, a precursor to the Light ones.

Before you say anything about the third dungeon's appearance, it is NOT a left-facing Nazi Swastika. It is actually a Manji - a symbol of Buddhism.

If you know the rock band called Deep Purple, try listening to their 1969 hit song "April" for something VERY familiar that served as an inspiration for the game's music.    • Deep Purple - April (2014 Remastered)...
