Sorry for the wait on this one! I've been held up with school lately, and I wanted to make sure that I was completely happy with these lyrics before I released them! Considering the fact that Inkoming! has an official ending, I figured I'd write lyrics for the whole two and a half minutes, with a repeating chorus and more variation in the verses. (Also I watched @sallystrings' video for this song after I began editing and realized that the lyrics I wrote for the intro were quite similar to hers, and this was a video whose description discourages plagiarism! Sorry Sally! (lol))

Anyway headcanon time oop! The Wet Floor album that we hear in Splatoon 2 is actually the band's second, released after a lengthy hiatus of six years. The band had formed after an open call by keyboardist Keaton on social media (that bit is actually canon!) and released one album on the tail end of a resurgence in indie music, dissolving pretty soon after due to a lack of commercial success. Each dissatisfied with their musical ventures post-Wet Floor, the quintet would reunite to release this second album: "Caution!" Vocalist Mizo would concede to sharing the responsibility of writing lyrics with lead guitarist Ryley, as well as to splitting singing time between them. Critics had not taken too kindly to Mizo's cynical and generally negative lyrics, with many claiming that they didn't "fit the band's sound."

Now checked by Ryley as co-lyricist, Wet Floor would move in more of a pop-rock direction, with Inkoming! as their first single in six years. The song's lyrics, inspired by Ryley's feelings around working an unfulfilling job in her early 20s, encourage the listener to accept and even seek out change when things don't seem to be working out. With Inkoming! as the precedent, "Caution" would serve as a therapeutic experience for all five members, for whom this was their first serious venture into unabashedly positive songwriting.
