About this video: This video goes over the primary differences between the Nvidia GTX 1080 and the Nvidia GTX 1080Ti. Both of these graphics cards are great, but one does outshine the other in a very big way depending on what you are looking to do. So, what are the main differences between these two graphics cards?
Well, to get started, let's talk about VRAM. The GTX 1080 has 8GBs of GDDR5X VRAM while the GTX 1080Ti has 11GBs of GDDR5X memory. The 1080Ti’s memory is slightly faster too. This allows for more fuid video editing, faster exporting, and with 11GB of VRAM, you'll be able to tackle any game at max settings without any issues.
Next, we have speed. Nvidia claims the 1080Ti is 30% faster, and that seems mostly true. At stock speeds, you can benchmarks show around a 25% to 30% improvement with overclocked speeds up to 35% faster. Faster overall speed usually means that a card can last longer over time before needing to be upgraded. For example, this card will still probably be able to play most new triple-A games at decent settings three years from now.
Another important upgrade from the 1080 to the 1080Ti is the amount of CUDA cores has increased significantly. The GTX 1080 has 2560 CUDA cores while the GTX 1080Ti has 3584 CUDA cores. The extra cores will help in GPU-accelerated tasks like video editing, gaming etc., and from my experience, the more CUDA cores you have the better experience you'll have overall with your graphics card. This has been accomplished by increasing the 1080Ti's Die size significantly over the regular 1080.
And there are the primary differences, but there are some comparisons too. Both the 1080 and 1080Ti are based on the Pascal architecture, and well, they share the same name which is probably why you landed on this video in the first place. Other than that they are very different cards with the 1080Ti being a much, much better overall performing card, and the one I recommend you purchase.
Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed this video and did help you understand the main differences between the Nvidia GTX 1080 and the Nvidia GTX 1080Ti. If it did, please give this video a thumbs up and be sure to subscribe to the channel for more awesome tech videos every single day of the week!
